Alan Robinson and Peter Jackson stick their necks out in the
belief that 2009 is going to be a ‘snap up a bargain’ year in
the local property market. Robinson gets the ball rolling by
observing ‘for me, the acid test on the subject of whether to
buy in this fi rst quarter of 2009 is ‘would I tell a member of my
own family to buy now?’ Answer: yes. The early 2008 £175,000
priced property is now in some cases £135,000 and there’s a
really decent choice of homes available.
Will they go lower? Depends what ‘expert’ you listen to, but
I’d tell my son or daughter not to worry, the biggest ‘price
correction’ has now taken place and in addition, as you’ll be
staying in the home for the next 3-5 years so go for it. Many
people feel that renting is a waste of your potential deposit
money and of course you can’t live with Mum and Dad forever.
Read Robinson’s upbeat comments and you can hear the
squeals of ‘all very well but how about getting the mortgage?’
Peter Jackson, Robinson’s business partner and friend of nearly
40 years, is quick to add ‘It’s crackers to say there are the
same number of mortgages around because there aren’t. It’s
more important than ever to obtain the right advice to ensure
you sign up for the right mortgage. But for half a century, we
at Robinson-Jackson stand or fall on our famous mortgage
service and have done so since we developed the UK’s fi rst one
stop estate agency company. Everything under our one roof
including valuations, sales, lettings, mortgages, conveyancing,
HIPs, energy certifi cates, removals, etc, etc. We make it easy
for you, just leave everything to us. And as over years gone
by, people only need to come to us and we’ll do all we can to
arrange the best tailor made mortgage, higher percentage if
needed, at the most attractive interest rate to get the lowest
monthly repayments.. Please remember, we’re open seven days
a week ‘til late, at our 30 branches and departments and of
course we’re on line 365 days a week, 24 hours a day, at www.
robinson-jackson.com for all the latest properties which are
updated hourly.’
Alan and Peter have managed their companies J.H.Jackson &
Co, then Jackson Property Services, Halifax Property Services
and now Robinson-Jackson through a rollercoaster ride of
market conditions including four recessions since 1960.
‘Experience has shown us that whatever doom and gloom the
media throws at us, our potential vendors and purchasers are
always governed by their own personal circumstances. If they
are in work, then they will still want to move up from their two
bedroomed house to a three bedroomed semi. With interest
rates tumbling, the cost of any mortgage for those people looks
very attractive indeed, compared to a year ago.
Add lower priced homes, petrol, food, childrens clothes, etc and
the distance between what the papers tell us and what most of
our local people are experiencing is vast,’ concludes Robinson.
Peter Jackson adds “Watch for demand, increasing after the
fi rst quarter of 2009. We expect to make an increasing number
of sales in January, February and March owing to the pent up
demand of people wanting and waiting for a decent roof over
their head.
All our branches are going to be open extended hours seven
days a week so please call in, phone or click and we’ll be here
just as we have since 1960 to help”.
Robinson-Jackson have 20 mortgage experts in their offi ces

Then go and check out some super homes where prices have
