Young Bexley athlete secures our sponsorship

We have always been proud of our role within the local community, so it gives us great pleasure to announce the sponsorship of a promising young athlete. Behind the support of 18 year old Tommy Ramdham - a Bexley resident who is competing for Team GB at junior level - is Kevin Wooder, the Branch Manager at our Bexley Village office.

Wooder comments: “When I met Tommy and his family I was blown away by what this young sportsman had achieved already, despite only specialising in athletics for the past four years. What also struck me, however, was the time and money Tommy’s family have to commit to make sure he is competition ready and in peak fitness, with little contribution from athletics organisations."

"I think it would be great to have a world-class athletics star from Bexley and hearing what’s involved spurred me on to provide sponsorship for Tommy - a shortfall of funds should not be a barrier to developing real talent," adds Wooder.

Rob Ramdham, Tommy’s Dad, spoke about what the sponsorship means to his son: “The support Tommy is receiving from Kevin Wooder and the team at Robinson Jackson Bexley Village has subsidised accommodation at athletics competitions, covered competition fees and paid for travel costs, amongst other things.”

Tommy has already been an English Schools’ Athletics champion and has consistently been ranked in the top 10 at 100m and 200m at youth level. In 2015 Tommy won gold at the National Indoor Championships in the under 20 category, gold at the European Junior Championships representing GB and silver at the National Senior Championships - all at a 200m distance. Tommy is also part of the under 20 GB 4 x 100m relay team.

An all-round sportsman who showed promise in rugby, having played since the age of seven, Tommy trained with the Kent county squad and was part of the youth academy at premiership rugby club Saracens RFC. He joined Bexley Athletics Club at the age of 14 to keep fit during the summer and after two years of combining the sports, Tommy chose to concentrate on athletics. After completing further education at a specialist sports college, he has started a sports science degree at Middlesex University.

Everyone at The Robinson Jackson Group wishes Tommy well for his forthcoming competitions.
