Bexleyheath is a brilliant all-rounder – not too far from Central London but within striking distance of the Kent countryside. Its thriving hub is The Broadway – a shopping district with added appeal in the shape of a bowling alley, a cinema and a growing number of restaurants. With grammar schools in the educational mix and a direct train service to London, Bexleyheath makes a great base, especially for families. 

Bexleyheath: where?

Residents like Bexleyheath’s central location, sandwiched between Welling, Sidcup and Bexley Village, and classed as Greater London despite its Kent postcodes. A quick drive down the A2 and you’re at Dartford for the river crossing. A little further on and you’re at Bluewater, then Ashford for the designer outlet and international rail travel to Europe.

1. Transport:

• Own train station with services into London one way, and Gravesend via Dartford the other
• Direct routes to London Bridge, Waterloo East, Cannon Street, Charing Cross and Victoria
• Immediate access to the A2 for the M25 and the QEII river crossing

2. Schools:

Schools in Bexleyheath perform consistently well and the secondary school provision includes two of Bexley Borough’s four grammars. There’s a ‘find-a-school’ facility on every one of our online property listings, where you can filter schools by age, type and Ofsted rating. 

3. Attractions:

Residents are never stuck for something to do, whether they want a retail fix or to run free in open space. Danson Park on the Bexleyheath/Welling border is outstanding for outdoor activities – with sports pitches, parks, a lake and a children’s splash zone. The park is also home to two restaurants, a Grade I listed Palladian villa and a tea room. Not to be missed is The Red House – an Arts & Crafts property created for designer William Morris – and Crook Log Leisure Centre, complete with pool complex and crèche.

Bexleyheath property

Head to the south side of Bexleyheath where Edwardian, Victorian, Arts & Crafts and Art Deco properties line the streets. The north of the town is where semi-detached 1930s properties are found, with Feakes & Richards-built homes in the ‘Pantiles’ always quick to sell. Bexleyheath’s flats are perennially popular with young commuting professionals.
