STUART HARRIS

Promoted to Lettings Manager, Dartford

What did you do before joining the Group?

I worked for a property management company in a call centre environment, booking jobs for all different type of works. The travel had started to get too much, as it was over 2 hours door-to-door, so I already had thoughts about moving on when my sister started buying a house. I found the process fascinating and as I had some sector experience, I thought I’d try agency as a career.

What attracted you to estate agency?

Like a lot of people, I didn’t have a clue what I wanted to do when I was at school but I knew someone at a golf club who owned a small lettings agency. I did two days a week work experience there, and really enjoyed the team atmosphere and meeting new people.

How have you been mentored or supported in your career?

I have taken good points from every single person I’ve worked under to understand what makes a good manager. I am currently being supported by another Lettings Manager, who is teaching me more about the sector as he has been working in the industry for a long time.

What are your ambitions for the future?

My ambitions are quite simple - to make Dartford Lettings the number one agent in the area and grow the team here. I know this is possible because we have a great front-of-house and an amazing back office who look after our landlords and tenants.

What do you like most about working at the Group?

It’s a very family orientated company to work for and you don’t feel like another number in line. We get together for catch ups and drinks and, of course, we have the legendary company parties.

Any advice for those considering a career in estate agency?

You do need to be a people person as you will be talking to all different types of people. This can be the best part of the job as you learn so many things from everyday conversations.
