Gravesend Area Guide

Gravesend snapshot

A £15 million regeneration of Gravesend’s retail and leisure quarter is hotly anticipated, with new bars, restaurants and a cinema raising this maritime town’s reputation. Residents already love the sensible house prices, grammar schools and speedy rail line in to London. Add in a semi-rural setting, river views and historic links to Charles Dickens and Pocahontas, and you have a great place to put down roots.

Gravesend: where?

Perched on the banks of the River Thames in Gravesham Borough – looking across the waters to Tilbury - Gravesend is one of Kent’s busiest towns. To the west lies Northfleet and Dartford, and the Medway towns are a short drive in a south easterly direction. Outlying villages include Chalk, Higham, Shorne, Cobham, Luddesdown, Meopham, Istead Rise and Vigo.
