Brockley Area Guide

Brockley snapshot

Brockley has gained a reputation for being at the centre of the South London art scene, with a relaxed vibe, reputable schools and streets brimming with cafés, bars and restaurants. A mix of families and city professionals love the period properties, new homes and conservation area status. Brockley is a short 10-minute commute by train to Central London and boasts a prized Overground service, giving commuters direct access to Docklands, Highbury and Islington.

Brockley: where?

Brockley is located in the London Borough of Lewisham and covers the whole SE4 postcode. It is bordered by Lewisham, New Cross and Nunhead.

The BIG 3:

1. Transport:

  • Own mainline train station with direct services to London Bridge, Charing Cross and Waterloo East
  • There are also services to Norwood and Brighton via Croydon
  • Additional London Overground services
  • Excellent road connections, with direct access to the A2 and A20

2. Schools:

Brockley is strong when it comes to further education in the arts, with both Trinity Laban and Goldsmiths, the University of London in the vicinity. There’s a ‘find-a-school’ facility on every one of our online property listings, where you can filter schools by age, type and Ofsted rating.

3. Attractions:

A youthful student vibe infuses the whole of Brockley with creativity and culture. Try drawing classes and quiz nights in The Talbot; enjoy the annual Telegraph Hill Festival, which is always packed full of art, comedy, theatre, music, spoken word, literature and film performances, and admire the views across London from Hilly Fields - standing 175 feet above sea level.
